We're going back to our roots! Come join the Shaka Club and our partners at Skudin Surf for a private surf lesson and beach day! This experience usually costs $120, but Skudin is giving Shaka an exclusive discount of over 50% off! And you don't need to purchase a beach pass to hang out on the beach after!

Details on the Surf Lesson:

• All skill levels welcome, even if it'd be your first time surfing!
• All equipment (surf boards and rashguards) will be provided
• All instruction will be provided by professional surf instructors. The student to instructor ratio will be 3:1 within the group.
• The lesson will last for 75 minutes, with a standard 15 minute land lesson, followed by an hour in the water (it's so much fun the time will fly!).
• Please sign this waiver before attending the lesson. 

How to Get There:

• The best way to get to where the surf lesson is on Rockaway Beach is via the A train (take it to the Beach 67th St stop, which will drop you one block from the beach).
• You can post in the discussion page of the event on the app to coordinate travel with other attendees if you'd like! Otherwise, a Shaka representative and the Skudin Surf team will meet you at the beach!   

After the lesson:

• We recommend hanging out on the beach with the Shaka crew after the lesson! The Shaka representative will be there for the beginning of this portion but not the whole time. 
• Definitely check out the area and grab a bite to eat! There are great local spots (Batesy's BBQ comes highly recommended from the Skudin Surf team and is located right where you get dropped off on the A train).

Other logistics:

• There is a restroom located on the boardwalk at the beach, right near where our lesson will take place and where you can hangout after surfing. 
• While all equipment for the lesson will be provided, we recommend bringing whatever you'll need for the beach day afterwards (think: beach towel, water, snacks, sunscreen, change of clothes, etc.). 

Cancelation:

• Given the amount of planning that goes into this experience, Shaka will be enforcing a stricter than usual refund and cancelation policy. All cancelations must be received at least a week prior to be given a credit to be put toward future Shaka events (no refunds will be offered). You can notify us of your cancelation by emailing info@theshakaclub.com.
• If surf conditions or weather make it unsafe to surf on 9/2, the outing will be rescheduled, likely to Sunday 9/3 or Monday 9/4. The Shaka team and Skudin Surf team will be monitoring this closely.
